Sparc in Schools
Ysgol Hen Felin Special School
We have a great collaborative relationship with Ysgol Hen Felin Special School. Our work includes running creative sessions as part of their Save the Children, Families Connect programme, running sensory storytelling workshops with a range of age groups through the school and creating sensory props for these sessions with local 16 to 25 year olds. Most recently we have worked together with the school as part of our therapeutic storytelling project Puddle Jump creating therapeutic story resources that were used by children and families to support well-being through lockdown.
Tonypandy College
Sparc partners our local school to Penygraig, Ysgol Nantgwyn. Ysgol Nantgwyn is the new home of our local cluster of primary schools and our main feeder secondary school. We support the school by offering drama workshops in school to the students, who can then filter into our mainstream programmes. We also support the primary children with their summer drama school productions. Students of the school also have access to our mentoring and support programme and often volunteer some of their time to Sparc events and performances.
Porth Community School
We have a wonderful relationship with staff and pupils in the drama department at the school. We run a number of drama projects in the school working with young people from years 8 – 10, with a focus on devising their own work and sharing to parents, pupils and staff.
Nurture group Tonyrefail
Over the last several years we have worked successfully in Tonyrefail School, creating strong relationships with the Nurture room. Some of our long standing members of Sparc came through the Nurture room and later joined our youth Theatres.
Hawthorn High School
We have a working relationship with the school and youth Workers. We offer taster sessions and events. Students have access to our mentoring and support sessions and student placements.
